Dr Damien Daniel is a Rehabilitation Medicine Specialist who has sub-specialised in the management of persistent pain and musculoskeletal conditions/injuries. He has extensive training and experience in pain and musculoskeletal medicine, both during his registrar training and as a specialist, as well as general rehabilitation medicine. Damien graduated from the University of Queensland School of Medicine in 2003 and completed his specialist training in 2014.

Prior to moving to Victoria in 2016 he was the Clinical Director of Rehabilitation Services at St Vincent's Private Hospital in Toowoomba, Medical Co-Director of the Brisbane Pain Rehabilitation Service and staff specialist at the Metro South Persistent Pain Service, as well as a clinical lecturer and examiner at the University of Queensland's School of Medicine. Damien commenced working at Advance in 2022.

Originally training in anaesthetics, Damien himself suffered a severe multi-trauma accident in 2008. Some 40 surgeries and 15 months of rehabilitation later he returned to work as a doctor. Inspired by his experience as a patient, he chose to train in rehabilitation medicine where he developed a great passion for working in multidisciplinary teams to help people achieve their goals. Although living with disability and chronic pain, Damien chooses to think himself as a “pain survivor” rather than a “pain sufferer”. He likes to share this experience and understanding with his patients and their families, to inspire them to a life of greater knowledge, function, independence and productivity.
